something borrowed
I hate to admit it, but I'm such a sucker for romantic comedies. They are just so sweet and such a nice little escape from unsweet reality. It's nice to live in the "what ifs". "What if..." that could happen to me? The odds are, it won't, but the possibility is nice haha. The truth is, a good romantic comedy is hard to come by. We all know the formula, boy meets girl, girl takes a while to warm up to boy, boy finally wins her heart, boy does something to screw it up, girl is so mad, boy does something to make it up to the girl, girl is happy and they live happily ever after. Formulas are formulas for a reason. They work. But sometimes its nice to see the formula spiced up a little. That is probably why my favorite romantic comedies are a little unconventional. I'm particularly excited for this new one coming out in May, Something Borrowed. It's about a guy and a girl who meet and become friends, but neither one speaks up and the opportunity is lost. He then ends up getting with her best friend, but then realizes he can't deny his feelings for the first girl. Yikes! While Kate Hudson hasn't done a good romantic comedy since How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, I'm hoping John Krasinski and Ginnifer Goodwin can make up for that. My fingers are crossed!
