2011

I'm scared. It's all starting to hit me how college is coming to an end. I've known it, but it hasn't really sunk in until now. I don't wish I had another year or anything like that. I think I had a good four solid years of college experience and I am satisfied with that chapter of my life. I am just not sure if I am ready for the next chapter. I have plans. To spend the next year studying for the GRE, applying for graduate school, volunteering at a hospital, and getting a job as a research assistant. But these are all plans. Nothing is set in stone. And that scares me more than anything. For the first time in my life, things aren't laid out for me. Before it was always simple. Elementary school--> middle school--> high school--> college. But now what. Now is when I pave my own way. But what if I'm going in the wrong direction? How long will it take me to know?

Room 25

I am so sad. Today was my last day interning at Gompers Preparatory Academy. This was undoubtedly my best internship experience. I loved shadowing the school psychologist and getting to see what she did on a day to day schedule. But most of all, I fell in love with the kiddos. It took them a while to warm up to me at first, but after some time they came to really like me. When I would walk into the classroom they would all excitedly shout "Ms.Kim!!". That was probably the favorite part of my day. It breaks my heart to have to leave them just as we were starting to get close. I'm going to miss them so much.

pump it up

Endorphins are a real thing! I always kind of doubted their power, but after today I can no longer deny it! I feel so happy it's ridiculous! This happiness could also be due in part to the fact that I have an extremely laid back week ahead of me, but I'm sure the endorphins are not hurting either:)

Ok I need to callllm down.

Here a couple of trends I've been particularly drawn to that I would love to incorporate into my new room.

I've been kind of obsessed with the whole wall of frames idea for a couple years now. I tried to make it happen in my room in san diego, but frames cost a lot! Hopefully I can finally fulfill my fantasy (like that alliteration?) when I move back home haha.

Another mini trend that I've been eyeing is chandeliers! I don't know how plausible this one is for me, but they really do add character to a room. I dare you to disagree!

something borrowed

I hate to admit it, but I'm such a sucker for romantic comedies. They are just so sweet and such a nice little escape from unsweet reality. It's nice to live in the "what ifs". "What if..." that could happen to me? The odds are, it won't, but the possibility is nice haha. The truth is, a good romantic comedy is hard to come by. We all know the formula, boy meets girl, girl takes a while to warm up to boy, boy finally wins her heart, boy does something to screw it up, girl is so mad, boy does something to make it up to the girl, girl is happy and they live happily ever after. Formulas are formulas for a reason. They work. But sometimes its nice to see the formula spiced up a little. That is probably why my favorite romantic comedies are a little unconventional. I'm particularly excited for this new one coming out in May, Something Borrowed. It's about a guy and a girl who meet and become friends, but neither one speaks up and the opportunity is lost. He then ends up getting with her best friend, but then realizes he can't deny his feelings for the first girl. Yikes! While Kate Hudson hasn't done a good romantic comedy since How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, I'm hoping John Krasinski and Ginnifer Goodwin can make up for that. My fingers are crossed!

set fire to the rain

Sometimes it scares me how obsessive I am. I wonder if everyone is as secretly obsessive as I am, or if it's just me. I think it might just be me.

Have you ever noticed that when you first listen to an album it's extremely difficult to distinguish one song from another? I guess that is the definition of style after all. But as soon as you listen to the album over and over, you begin to individualize each song. The trained ear will eventually be able to spot the subtle nuances particular to each song and certain songs will speak to you more than others. It just takes time.
